Ally Boothroyd

Kripalu Yoga Teacher

My journey with yoga began in 2003 when I fell completely head over heels in love at my very first class. I began to practice yoga frequently because I loved the relaxed feeling it gave me as well as the sense of inner stillness and peace. The more I practiced the more I felt a much needed sense of balance in my life. As well, I noticed the wonderful benefits yoga was giving to my body. I became more and more interested in deepening my practice and learning more about the Eight Limbs and yoga philosophy.

I studied under Randal Williams of the Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health for my 200 hour training. The Kripalu approach is one that fosters a spiritual connection to all life and focuses on awakening ones own innate wisdom and authentic self through cultivating nonjudgemental awareness. In essence, the word Kripalu translates into ‘being compassionate’. Neither posture sequences nor instructions are standardized, so no two classes look alike. Because of the creative nature of Kripalu Yoga, being an artist myself, I found it was the perfect yoga teacher training for me.
Teaching a practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation is what I love to do the most. Bringing awareness to the physical sensations, emotions, and thoughts that arise throughout the practice create a ‘meditation in motion’ style of class. I find that this makes for a fulfilling and well rounded experience for my students. I also attended workshops and have studied under various other acclaimed yoga & meditation teachers such as Seane Corn, Rodney Yee, Nischala Joy Devi, & Rod Stryker. In addition I have participated in a 50 hour training retreat that focused on sound and movement in Nosara, Costa Rica. I know that I am a life long student in the practice of yoga and will continue to seek out more workshops and training as often as I can. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to spread the love I have found in yoga with others. My goal is to inspire everyone to take care of themselves with loving compassion, mind, body and soul.
